The boys and I enjoyed an idyllic day at my friend Ele’s parents’ house in Sussex on Wednesday.
Rambling gardens, sunshine, play buddies, ice cream, water pistols – Sam and Arlo were in seventh heaven. It was lush seeing them have so much fun. Sam ate everything put in front of him which was a relief!!!!
On our drive down I spotted signs for a farm shop – needless to say I was in like a shot filling my basket with gorgeous local produce.
Tulley’s Farm Shop is massive and full of perfect looking fruit and veg. The strawberries were ruby red and just pristine.
I picked out a chunky looking chicken pie and a bumper bundle of asparagus. It made a fine feast for Matthew and I later that night.
I just cooked the asparagus gently in salted water lying flat in a frying pan until tender. I served it up with melted butter.
The pie just needed heating through in the oven for 40 mins. I can’t believe how much chicken was in it – so chunky!!
The Real Pie Company have clearly got their act together!! I’m dying to try all the other pies in their range.
It’s so rewarding finding new fodder in farm shops. They’re little treasure troves waiting to be raided.
