Many of us dream of writing our own recipe book and getting it published. A few of my friends have published cookery books this year and I’ve been so proud of them. But now we can all have a go – you don’t need a book deal to get your own tome put together.
Okay, you might not be hitting the top 25 bestseller list on Amazon, but using a site like Snapfish to make a recipe book is such a fab idea. I’d only thought about creating baby picture books, but it’s also a great way to preserve old family recipes, compile your favourite bakes as a gift for a friend or even a collection of essential recipes for a teenager leaving home for the first time.
I’ve got hundreds of scraps of paper that my granny, mum and many friends have scribbled recipes on over the years that i’ve got stuffed in files and folders. I thought it’d be great to get them all into a book so I don’t lose them, so I’m currently putting one together to pass down to my boys.
If you fancy having a go at doing this yourself, Snapfish have very kindly given me two photobook prizes to give away in a competition.

I would write a recipe book based on ‘larder basics’ – delicious meals you can whip up with the kind of ‘staples’ most of us have in the larder, freezer and fridge – tins of beans, rice, pasta, frozen peas, pesto, potatoes, eggs … you get the drift! I got quite creative the winter before last when we were snowed in and couldn’t get to the shop for cheese, milk and fresh veggies, and now I really enjoy grabbing a few ingredients from the cupboard and seeing what I can come up with!

I’d like to write a healthy recipe book for faddy kids, using hidden veggies!
susan willshee says
I completely agree with you, it would be great to have my very own proper recipe book. I have so many cuttings with scribbles and notes. I try to keep them all in ‘flimsies’ in a ring binder but they are very scrappy.
I’d like to write a recipe book which only contains meals that are both vegetarian and gluten free. I often find veggie recipes and also make a point of storing any gluten free meal ideas but trying to find recipes which are both is a nightmare.
My current stack of recipes are meaty dishes where I’ve crossed out the meat and substituted quorn or soya mince, or pasta / pizza / pie recipes where I’ve substituted gluten free versions for the traditional ingredients.
Trying to keep them all straight is definitely a challenge – I can never find the one I’m looking for so we usually end up eating something completely different to what I planned 😉

I would like to write a recipe book about healthy and delicious vegetarian meals from all over the world, as being a vegetarian I am frequently asked do I not get bored of vegetables..the answer is not at all..there are so many colorful vegetables ,beans and pulses to try…so I have tried my recipes on meat lovers and they were absolute hit. they just kept asking for more every time I made those tried and tested recipes..I have even taken the pictures of those dishes..I would love to spread those recipes to every body so that everyone can have their 5 a day in a delicious way…
