Summer product review round up

August 12, 2013 by Katie Bryson

While i’m off entertaining those boys of mine I thought I’d leave you with a little round-up of some of the products that have found their way to Feeding Boys HQ this summer:

Sainsbury’s Taste The Difference infused sugars

Infused sugars from Sainsbury's

Great for adding an extra flavour dimension to your baking projects, they come in vanilla, lavender and cinnamon.
I particularly like the soothing cinnamon notes the sugar added to my cherry compote.
Sainsbury’s: 250g £2.99

Amoy Special Selection Soy Sauce

Amoy Special Selection Soy Sauce

Great for pepping up tomato sauces, adding depth to a weeknight stir fry. How’s it different to regular soy sauce? It’s got a really full-bodied richer flavour.
250ml £2.99

Sainsbury’s Taste The Difference Dressings

Sainsbury's TTD Dressings

Great for whacking on the table at a summer party

We really love the Oak aged balsamic vinegar dressing which is not only good for drizzling on salad, but also works well in small bowls for dunking hunks of bread in.
Sainsbury’s 255ml £1.80

Sainsbury’s Jerk Marinade

Sainsbury's jerk marinade

Great for livening up chicken drumsticks and pork steaks on the BBQ. Too spicy for my boys, but I love it!
Sainsbury’s 280g £1.29

Higgedy pies and quiches

Higgidy pies

Great for slinging in the oven and serving with a bag of salad for a speedy supper after a busy day of school holiday outings.  We particularly adored the vegetarian-friendly balsamic onion and cheddar mini quiches.
Higgidy quiches from £2.55 at Waitrose

Nasalguard allergieBLOCK

Nasalguard Allergieblock

Sam and myself are afflicted with hayfever and this season has felt absolutely dreadful. A slick of this magic stuff under our noses and our symptoms were much reduced. I really struggle with antihistamines as they make me feel spaced out, so this has been the best thing i’ve tried so far. It’s great to know I can use something a bit more natural, for both myself and the boys. It’s become a handbag staple!
Boots £11.99 for 150 applications

And finally summery bedding from Dunelm

Dunelm Naya Bedding

Great for giving a guest room a lift with this gorgeous Orla Kiely-esque set.
Naya bedding £3.99 – £59.99

Disclosure: Thanks to everyone for sending me the products to review. These are my honest views, and I was not paid to write this feature 🙂
