Kids parties can be an intense business, especially when you feel the pressure to invite the entire class. 30 kids to feed and entertain… zoinks! Thankfully it eases off again as they get older and you can get away with just inviting their closest friends.
My main fear is the cake. What will they ask for this year? My favourite year was undoubtedly Pizza Birthday Cake… super easy and looked great. My least favourite year… the Tractor Cake… it was very wonky!
Party food itself isn’t hard, it’s just the volume of it that can be tedious. It’s then extremely depressing when hardly any of it gets eaten coz the revellers are far too excited.
These little canapés I made for my latest ad for Birds Eye are ideal if you’re doing a little birthday party at home – they feel a bit more special than the norm, but use classic ingredients you’re bound to have already.
A mini waffle base with a dollop of pesto mayo, a bit of lettuce and pepper and a chicken dipper on top. Easy peasy and makes a welcome change from cheese sandwiches! You can see me putting them together below…
What are your go-to favourites for the party table? Leave me a comment or if you use any Birds Eye favourites on your party food menu why not tweet @BirdsEyeUK with your tips to #MixUpYourMenu.

Disclosure: I am working with Birds Eye to promote their Mix Up Your Menu campaign and will be sharing my ads and recipes over the coming months with you here in Feeding Boys.
